Apart from the conjugated 501 verbs, there are additional 2100 verbs which are not conjucated but for which the 501 are used as a model.
That is to say I knew general greetings and how to ask where the bathroom was. While I never fully lost my American accent, I was told by many native speakers that my Spanish was "perfect".
You will naturally begin to conjugate virtually every verb you come across. If you study this book, not only will you learn 501 verbs, but you will develop a genuine feel for the language.
I picked this book up for the first time in 1988 just before I moved to Guatemala for 2 years. At the end of 3 months, not only did I have a nice vocabulary, I could conjugate perfectly.
Irregular verbs will flow naturally and you will be a great Spanish speaker. Before moving I spoke only the smallest amount of Spanish.
I studied this book every day for 3 months and tried to use each new verb in as many conjugated forms as possible as I learned them.
All my friends thought I was crazy when I went out and bought it the day after my teacher told us, but now they ask to borrow it regularly. I bought it after my teacher recommended it to our class and have had no regrets about buying it, it was definitely worth it. The book even does a pretty good job of explaining conjugations in the beginning. Definitely one of the most worthwhile book purchases I have ever made. I would recommend to anyone and everyone who is learning Spanish. Both my brother and I have used it to study for tests and finals and the way it is organized, it is so simple to use. 501 Spanish Verbs has been immensely helpful. Plus, the additional tidbits like "50 Most Essential Verbs" is useful.
I strongly recommend this to those students who are taking spanish class. I am taking beginner spanish class and i love this book cause i feel like i can go to intermediate class right away. It is so much to learn from this book.
We can't always use the present tense, after all. Once you get the hang of using it, this book is very helpful to have when you are trying to conjugate and make sentences in different tenses in Spanish.
